Mobile social network now allows its members to choose what kinds of ads they want to see.

Itsmy.com, an ad-funded mobile social network owned by Germany-based GoFresh, says users can choose their favourite types of ads from 15 different channels, such as fashion, sports, entertainment and education.

GoFresh says the move will mean its users will spend more time looking at ads. It cites a 20,000 user trial of the system in the UK and US that showed 82 per cent of users opted to choose the ads they see.

Around 40 per cent changed their ad channels a few times in the first week to see which ads they would get. GoFresh says new campaigns exposed to those users achieved a 3 per cent click through rate.
