In-game voice, music and web access a priority going forward.

EA Mobile says enhanced functionality like in-game voice communication, customised music playlists and web access are key considerations in its development roadmap.

Speaking at BREW 2008 this morning EA Mobile's VP of worldwide studios, Travis Boatman said: "In terms of what's coming next, imagine being able to talk to an opponent while playing a game or being able to access all music stored on the device and play along to it. Video chat is already happening on the Xbox but we can do it on mobile too.

"Perhaps even more important is in-game connections to the web. There's so much gaming information out there like FAQs and walkthroughs or Facebook groups - to take those social channels and leverage them in mobile is very exciting."

Boatman was talking specifically about Qualcomm's BREW development platform offering the above functionality, but you can bet EA is looking at building similar options into its wider product portfolio across Java and Symbian etc.
