Vodafone’s data and content revenues grew 40.6 per cent to £2.2 bn in the last fiscal year.

The company has stressed that its strategy is to “expand beyond our core mobile services to offer a choice of communications, entertainment and internet
services”. These areas generated around 13 per cent of group revenue this year and Voda aims to grow this to to around 20 per cent in 2010.

The operator says there has been strong growth in business email and PC connectivity devices and mobile internet offerings.

Materna

It says two million customers in eight markets, have signed up for flat rate mobile internet access.

Overall Voda’s group revenue increased by 14.1 per cent to £35.5 billion, with operating profit up 5.7 per cent to £10.1 billion.
