Telstra in bizarre iPhone claim

Australian operator's 3G iPhone will apparently be the 'fastest in the world', claims insider.
Engadget is reporting a 'senior Telstra executive' bragging about the capabilities of the upcoming 3G Apple iPhone, namely that: "By Christmas this phone will be capable of 42Mbps which will make it faster than a lot of broadband offerings and the fastest iPhone on any network in the world."
What he's referring to here is the speed of Telstra's HSDPA network, rather than the actual device, but you catch his drift.
As the article points out, Telstra is committed to rolling out an HSPA+ service next year capable of a lightning quick 42Mbps.
Maybe, as was the case with O2 UK Edge network, Telstra will switch it on just for iPhone. Maybe a fair few other operators around the world will also have those kinds of network capabilities too by the time 3G iPhone is launched. Maybe its just a load of hot air.
