Survey finds iPhone firm amongst the most 'gay-friendly brands' in the US. Samsung not.

Apple has ranked among the most gay-friendly brands in the US according to the results of a survey carried out Prime Access.

It found that the firm behind the iPod, iPhone and Mac range of computers was seen as gay-friendly by 39 per cent of the 2,259 gays and lesbians question. It was second only to Bravo, which polled 52 per cent of those questioned seeing it as gay-friendly.

Wal-Mart and Samsung, however, were among the brands seen as the least gay-friendly by the report.

The survey is one of the largest ever carried out in the US into brand perception and consumer habits of gays and lesbians.

Admob

According to the results, 68 per cent of those questioned said that they were more likely to buy a branded product if they felt that it was gay-friendly – something that the report found was largely based on advertising, followed by input from family and then friends.

It also found that those brands that featured gay and lesbian imagery in their advertising created a more favourable impression with 71 per cent of those questioned.

It's interesting that Samsung is pegged as being not ***-friendly. I spent a long time in Korea and found the subject of homosexuality incredibly taboo among Koreans. It could be that a country's culture is projected through its largest corporations.
