Survey shows that one in three people no longer use their home landline, opting instead for mobile-only telephony.
A survey conducted by the IDC in the US claims that in the state of Virginia as many as one in three households no longer use their landline telephone, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The National Health Interview Survey states that in the final six months of 2007 16 per cent of households only used mobiles, whilst an additional 13 per cent claimed to not use the landlines that were present in their homes.
The number of people who disconnected their landlines in the period also climbed by two per cent compared to the previous six months.
The survey claims that an increasing number of people are keeping hold of their landlines solely for the use of DSL internet connections.
