24-7 Entertainment distributed ten million full-length audio tracks and music videos in April.
That’s a 732 per cent rise on April 2007. 24-7 Entertainment powers subscription services such as TDC’s Play in Denmark and Omnifone’s MusicStation in the UK. In all, it powers 40 services in 13 countries throughout Europe (not all mobile) with retailers and telcos such as Media Markt, Saturn, CDON, TDC, ElGiganten, Libro, ExLibris, Sunrise, Freenet and many others.
The firm is bullish about the future, especially in view of the move away from DRM. It says 70 per cent of its music catalogue is DRM-free MP3.
“Currently a few of the majors are offering DRM-free MP3s but it is expected that all of them will be on board shortly and at the time, we believe the download figures will rise even more dramatically”, said Frank Taubert, CEO 24-7 Entertainment.
