16 gb, 3g, 8gb, apple, iphone, no onger available, o2, out of stockConfusion over UK O2 iPhone stock

O2 website claims Apple’s machine is 'no longer available' through its channels.

We’ve already heard reports claiming that the majority of O2 outlets have run out of stock of Apple’s iPhone following last month’s £100 price cut on the 8GB device – and now rumours are spreading that O2 will not be receiving new stock (including the 16GB version) until the upcoming (though still officially unconfirmed) 3G model arrives.

The iPhone page on the O2 website (pictured) claims that the device is ‘no longer available’ in either its 8GB or 16GB incarnation – though TechRadar reports that the mobile operator has dismissed the claims.

Furthermore, whilst it seems more or less certain that Apple will announce, and indeed release, an updated 3G iPhone next month, it’s hard to envisage it arriving in the UK until several months later.

Some predict its arrival could come as late as November – and it’s hard to see O2 receiving no more stock in the mean time.

However, the statement on the website does seem quite definitive – certainly more so than a small ‘out of stock’ message.
