China to commence mobile TV trials

China is set to launch trials of its mobile TV standard, CMMB.
China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting will go live in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen with seven programmes available free of charge during the trial period. At first there’ll be a USB dongle for laptops, but SD card receivers and bluetooth receivers will come out before the Beijing Olympic Games.
Industry body SARFT commenced bidding for the construction of the CMMB network at the end of 2007.
