Rumours on the interweb say the hills of Austria will soon be alive to the sound of 3G iPhones.

Neither company has confirmed the rumours, but reports this morning suggest T-Mobile Austria will be one of the first European operators to launch the 3G version of Apple's iPhone this summer.

The story can be traced to Austrian daily Der Standard, with Pocket-lint taking on translating duties to report a T-Mobile Austria spokesperson saying: "Yes, we plan to bring the iPhone with UMTS-support to market, but can't and are not allowed to say when yet."

So there you go. However, it would be surprising if all iPhone partners in Europe didn't start offering the device simultaneously.

Apple is expected to officially unveil details of the 3G iPhone at an event on June 9th. If you can't wait that long, some pics of what is claimed to be the device have cropped up here at Pocketpicks.
