Guidelines provide improved formats for mobile web banners and standards for messaging and downloadable content.
The MMA has combined the previously regional ad specifications it published last year for North America, Asia Pacific and EMEA into a single set of Global Mobile Advertising Guidelines.
The new specifications have received industry endorsements from IAB UK and Mexico, the dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG), ADMA and others.
The MMA says the guidelines provide improved formats around mobile web and have added new specs for messaging (SMS and MMS) and downloadables, including recommended aspect ratios, banner dimensions and maximum file sizes.

Laura Marriott, president of the MMA, said: "The creation of ad guidelines by the MMA ensures that the industry is taking a proactive approach to keep subscriber experience, content integrity and simplified execution as the driving forces behind all mobile advertising programs."
