Apple says it sold 1.7 million iPhones in 2Q08, down from the 2.3 million reported for the first quarter.
However, the company maintains it's still on track to sell 10 million iPhones by the end of this year.

As a whole, Apple posted a profit of $1.06 billion (£535 million) from revenue of $7.51 billion (£3.8 billion) for the second quarter.

The second quarter hasn't ended yet - may be Apple meant projected sales and revenues?

Maybe the hype is over and people are assessing whether iPhone really functions well as a phone. At Bango, we like the iPhone as it's stimulating more people to surf the mobile web. But it's really a gadget for technophiles than the mass market.
OK, so it's got a fantastic user interface, a superb photo viewer and a great music player but the reality is it's a pretty mediocre phone with a poor games console and terrible security. Is this a phone for the mass market?
