Greycroft Partners and Monitor Ventures jump on board LBS-based mobile social network.
Buzzd, which offers content from the likes of Time Out, Flavorpill and Citysearch, says it will invest the undisclosed new funds into R&D.
In addition, Buzzd is has confirmed that tequila maker Hornitos has joined its ad network, and will offer users the ability to send Tequila Shots to friends - redeemable at bars - via SMS .
Buzzd is based on offering location sensitive info about local events and listings, with user-generated feedback ('buzzes') ensuring the best stuff is at the top of search results pages.
The company is run by Nihal Mehta, who set up and sold ipsh! to Omnicom Group in 2005.
Mehta said: "Monitor and Greycroft have successfully guided digital media start-ups from seed to success. We are excited to have partners who will roll up their sleeves and really work with entrepreneurs."
