Unipier's Ofir Azury says operators should use social networks to promote new services.

While operators have made impressive gains in accelerating time to market for new services and content, their efforts to promote them have been unsatisfactory. The prominent method, SMS or MMS push, can be badly targeted and perceived as spam by users.

However, by enabling users of social networks to share details of their mobile status – from which handset they’re using to which ringtone they’ve downloaded – operators can exploit the power of viral communication.
