Innaworks has unveiled tools that enable game developers to port Java content to iPhone and iPod touch.
The New Zealand-based company says the beta version of its alcheMo for iPhone platform is fully automated and can port a standard Java game to iPhone and iPod touch without the need for further manual adjustments.
Innaworks alcheMo tools are already being used by the likes of I-Play, Glu, Vivendi Games Mobile and Hands-On to port Java games to Qualcomm's BREW platform.
The private beta programme for alcheMo for iPhone is now open. Innaworks is inviting qualifying game publishers and developers to join the programme via its website.
Stephen Cheng, CEO of Innaworks, said “With the expected introduction of iPhone’s AppStore in June, iPhone is emerging as a serious gaming platform. We expect the early backers among game publishers to significantly benefit from their first mover advantage. AlcheMo for iPhone will help mobile game publishers to reach the eagerly awaiting gamers with quality games on iPhone and iPod touch."
