Trade body AIME unveils best practice guidelines for interactive TV services in the UK.
The Association for Interactive Media and Entertainment (AIME) says its Interactive Broadcast Services Guide gives practical advice on how to implement premium rate services.
This includes voting, reverse auctions, competitions, text to screen and chat, from mobile phones, interactive voice response (IVR) and red button on digital TV.
It is hoped the guidelines will restore consumer confidence in the sector following a series of high-profile abuses by broadcasters and service providers last year.
Roy Ellyatt, CEO of AIME, said: "Now, with a renewed interest in how premium rate services can be introduced to provide programme interactivity, there is a clear need for industry stakeholders to work together and restore consumer confidence by implementing consistent and acceptable standards."
