Jamba store part of new MySpace Music launch
Tim Green Apr 4 2008, 3:09pm
The formally announced MySpace Music offering will feature a mobile storefront powered by Jamba.
MySpace users are already familiar with MySpace Music as an umbrella for band profiles and other music-related elements. But the new commerce-driven venture ups the ante a bit, and is rumoured to include equity stakes for the major labels. It was officially unveiled yesterday with backing from Warner Music, Universal Music and Sony BMG.
No news on EMI for the moment.
The participants are calling it a "landmark joint venture," with DRM-free downloads, ad-supported audio and video streaming, sponsorship ideas and the Jamba mobile store. MySpace has not confirmed download pricing, subscription offerings etc
