CTIA: Sony Pictures to offer full movies on AT&T
Stuart O'Brien at CTIA in Las Vegas Apr 1 2008, 12:32am
Pix channel to be offered exclusively as part of AT&T's MediaFLO mobile TV service.
Films initially available on the channel will include Ghostbusters, Bugsy, The Karate Kid and Philadelphia.
Pix is linear rather than on-demand, with the films available on loop and bundled with advertising. A subscription will also be required, though AT&T has not divulged pricing details.
It's not the first time Sony has sought to make full-length movies available on mobile - its has distributed them on memory cards in the past and also has a deal in place with Mspot to stream movies.
AT&T confirmed it would be offering broadcast mobile TV services powered by Qualcomm's mediaFLO platform last week.
Pix will be available from May.
