MXtv is based around both multicast and broadcast technology and is being offered by Huawei as part of its WiMAX infrastructure solutions.

MXtv also uses PacketVideo's MediaFusion multimedia content management, discovery and advertising platform.

The announcement adds MXtv with the rich tapestry of mobile TV solutions already out there for mobile TV.

It also solidifies the potential of WiMAX as a non-cellular means of delivery for mobile content and services. NextWave cites personal media players, handheld gaming or navigational devices and DVD players as possible target devices.
