World football body FIFA will use Ericsson’s platform to power content services based on its events.

The offers range from message-based services to advanced mobile TV and video apps. Ericsson is well-known as a provider of mobile and fixed network infrastructure, but is increasingly moving into powering broadband and multimedia solutions for operators, enterprises and developers. The FIFA deal marks another major move in this area.

Jérôme Valcke, secretary general of FIFA, said: “We are working hard to make our football content available to as many people as possible, on as many platforms as possible.
