MWC: T-Mobile bumps Google for Yahoo
Tim Green at MWC Feb 13 2008, 11:43am
Yahoo is to supplant Google as T-Mobile's official mobile search provider in Europe.
The two companies will develop a Yahoo oneSearch experience optimised for T-Mobile, plus versions of Yahoo services like Flickr, Messenger, Mail, Weather and Finance.
It’s a major coup for Yahoo in a weird week for the company. Despite the major staff lay-offs, the company is doing well in mobile, arguably pushing harder and launching more innovative services than Google.
This deal knocks Google off the Web n Walk front page – which was an arrangement that really launched Google into mobile two years ago.
