TELUS Canada will be the first operator in North America to offer the mobile discovery solution Qix on selected handsets.
Zi Corp’s Qix allows phone users to find any number, text, photo music track etc on their device intuitively, by typing in the letters on the keypad. The more letters are typed the fewer answers are displayed. The solution overcomes barriers to revenue-producing features by removing the need for clicking through menus.
Stephen Ospalak, VP of subscriber devices at TELUS, said: “The fact that Qix is an innovative and user-friendly engine and is compatible with the multiple handsets and PDAs we offer, were key factors in our decision to choose this engine.”
Qix has been available for Windows-based and Symbian-based Smartphones for a while, but the Telus deal shows it can be used on a broad range of handsets, regardless of the operating system.
