Streaming video and audio content services to go live with 3, PCCW and Buongiorno
US-based Vidiator's updated Xenon streaming and encoding platform enables mobile TV channel switching and streaming music playlists with shuffle, random and server-side playback control.
The technology is set to go live with 3 Sweden, 3 Austria, 3 UK, 3 Italy, PCCW in Hong Kong and Buongiorno. 3 Scandinavia recently launched mobile TV using Xenon.
Vidiator says Xenon delivers optimised HSDPA streaming at 384kbps and also handles ad bundling and personalised ads that can be inserted before a live stream.
Vidiator CEO Connie Wong said: "Since 2000 Xenon has been 'mobile tested' by millions of subscribers at carriers around the world. With each iteration of Xenon we have worked with our carrier customers to solve the problems associated with the delivery of wireless audio, video and 3D content in a bandwidth hungry mobile network."
