Sony Ericsson shipped 30.8m phones in Q4 2007, up 18 per cent year on year.
The results meant the company sold over 100 million units in 2007. Content-oriented devices certainly helped to drive the excellent results: Sony Ericsson says it has sold 145 million music enabled phones sold to date, of which 57 million were Walkman phones. The photography-led Cyber-shot range has also delivered, with the K550 in particular a huge seller.
Sony Ericsson estimates the 2007 global handset market as being over 1.1 billion units, in line with previous forecasts. On this basis the company believes it grew market share around two percentage points to reach slightly over nine per cent for the full year 2007.
