Moto to buy Soundbuzz, targets Asia expansion
Tim Green Jan 7 2008, 11:29am
Motorola is close to buying the Singapore-based online and mobile distributor Soundbuzz.
The move should strengthen Moto’s mobile music offering in Asia, which is already strong thanks to Motomusic, which is well-established across the region and especially strong in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Financial terms weren't disclosed, but Motorola said the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of this year.
Ian Chapman-Banks, Motorola's VP of Asia Pacific marketing for mobile devices, said: "Motorola is really excited about acquiring Soundbuzz," he said. "We really are now the biggest Pan-Asian aggregator and distributor of digital music to the mobile and to the PC."
