LG has developed a mobile TV technology called ‘Mobile Pedestrian Handheld’ for the North American market.
It’s invested $7.5m developing the platform, which enables US, Canadian and Mexican subscribers to watch terrestrial digital broadcasts on the move. It’s different from existing services like DMB, DVB-H and Medio FLO in that it doesn’t require additional frequencies, just an upgrade of the existing broadcasting equipment.
LG will demonstrate pedestrian at the CES show in Las Vegas this month.
LG claims the MPH system can deliver a high-quality viewing image in a moving vehicle at speeds of 90 kmh.
