Actimagine's Indian retail push

Actimagine is to begin pushing movies and music videos to Indian consumers via Mobile Magic retail stores.
The developer of the patented software video codec Mobiclip has done a deal with Mobile Magic to establish a new service called Media Magic. The concept transfers content from the retailer’s PC to the customers’ mobile handset in less than five minutes.
The partners say the approach is ideally suited to India, where the broadband infrastructure is underdeveloped but demand for rich media content is huge – especially when it comes to Bollywood, which produces about 900 movies a year.
Media Magic has already acquired legal rights to over 500 Bollywood movies and thousands of music clips. Once downloaded, the content is protected by an unlock key, which has to be generated by a shop assistant logging into a web interface.
The scheme will be rolled out at all 87 Mobile Magic stores across the country. However, Actimagine is targeting other retailers and aims to sign up 10000 new stores within a year.
