Microsoft has acquired a mobile social networking site WebFives started by one of its former execs.
Seattle based WebFives powers a mobile community that supports video, music and photos. Users are provided with profile pages from which they can blog and upload via WAP or web.
Microsoft’s swoop is merely the latest in a ‘goldrush’ towards mobile social networking firms.
Just two months ago, for example, Google bought the similar start-up Zingku.

Nice to know about WebFives. Of late I am coming across a lot of news which speaks about mobile social networking. Recently I bumped into a service called MoDazzle.
It is about accessing SN sites through mobile. Registration is free for it. I can access Facebook Linkedin through it. I liked it and I have registered for it too... Accessing these sites is via SMS and email. So you don't need any internet or GPRS. Here is the site, if you want to know more about it. www.modazzle.com?channel=CM&camp=mnim
