apple, handset, hardware, iphone3G iPhone on the way

Comments (1)

Apple has confirmed the iPhone will go 3G next year.

The announcement was hardly a surprise as Apple has faced some criticism for launching its revolutionary product via AT&T’s relatively sluggish EDGE network. No details of release date or price have been disclosed.

The company has also criticised the overall standards of the handset sector, to which iPhone was a response.

A spokesman said: "How this industry has gone about the handset business is so poorly done. The iPhone is the first shot across the bow. Here is this device that has such usability and functionality built into it, you can make a little money selling the handset and you can share the revenue stream with the handset maker."
