CDMA subscriber base reaches 421.4m

The number of mobile users on CDMA-based networks increased by 20m in 3Q07.
According to figures from the CDMA Development Group (CDG), Asia Pacific and North America account for the majority of CDMA subscribers, at 49 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.
The APAC (32 per cent) and EMEA (44 per cent) regions saw the greatest percentage of year-on-year growth.
In terms of network types, the CDMA2000 user base has reached 400.4 million, accounting for 95 per cent of all CDMA subscribers.
The 3G upgrade for CDMA - called EV-DO - finished the quarter with 83 million subscribers, an increase of eight million since 2Q07 and 38 million since 3Q06.
Conversely, there are currently 2.56 billion people using the rival GSM family of mobile network technologies.
