AOL transcodes to deliver 'real' mobile net.

AOL UK has re-launched AOL mobile, promising a ‘real’ internet user experience.
The service pulls content straight from AOL’s internet portal and offers web surf, email and search. It is also able to remember user favourites and recent requests. Significantly, it’s another service to include dynamic mobile transcoding technology, which takes web content and converts it for the phone being used. This theoretically brings the entire web to mobiles, although some builders of dedicated mobile internet sites are not happy about the technology.
It’s the latest move by AOL to increase its commitment to mobile. On a corporate level, the company bought US mobile ad agency Third Screen earlier this year.
