Disney is planning to enter the Japanese content market via an MVNO with local operator Softbank
Although the company is closing its US-based mobile service in December and has already canned ESPN Mobile, it obviously believes the concept will fly in the Far East. They certainly do like their cartoon characters over there, as Hello Kitty would tell you if it were audible.
A joint statement from the Mouse and Softbank (formerly Voda) said the two would develop phones and content. It will be Japan’s first MVNO.
