Celltick raises $8.5m

Mobile ticker specialist Celltick has bagged $8.5m in a fresh VC round.
Its principal investors JVP and Amadeus put in the cash to let Celltick build on its LiveScreen Media platform, which pushes marketing messages to users via a ticker on the idle screen.
Celltick already works with over 25 operators globally including AIS Thailand, Vodafone Essar in India, Beeline Russia, Claro Brazil and Globe in the Philippines. It claims a reach capacity of over 140 million LiveScreen Media users.
Under the new proposition, Celltick has evolved its business strategy from a licence based model to focus on the mass distribution of its application, distributing unlimited licenses at no cost to mobile operators. Celltick will be responsible for managing all aspects of the mobile medium including editorial content, promotion of rich media and advertising sales.
