Gracenote has added IVR to its music ID platform after acquiring Musicphone’s technology.

The US-based company also added AT&T and Virgin Mobile US to its customer base with the deal. The Musicphone technology uses a short code through which consumers can connect to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) service, and identify songs using the Gracenote Mobile MusicID service. The system then allows for purchasing of the track or other artist-related products. There are 80 million tracks on the database.

Gracenote powers music services for carriers including KDDI in Japan, SKT and KTF in Korea, and France Telecom/Orange in Europe.
