Sony BMG readies 'ringle'

Sony BMG is pitching the ‘ringle’, a combination of CD single and ringtone download.
According to Reuters, it has gathered the support of the other major labels and the product could hit stores soon. The ringle is CD single with a couple of bonus tracks and a code to allow buyers to go online and download a free ringtone of the main song.
Sony is believed to be planning 50 titles ringles by November, with Universal scheduling between 10 and 20.
Prices should be between $6 and $7. Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and Amazon are all supporting the format.
The concept does have some obvious flaws. The CD single is dying; surely it would make more sense to marry a ringtone with a digital download than a physical purchase?
