Fonestarz puts Kazzip in step

Fonestarz is going D2C with a new content portal, Kazzip.
The company, which made its name pumping graphical and video content into Vodafone among others, has launched the portal in the UK, US and Germany and will roll it out in other territories during the next 12 months.
Fonestarz CEO Dave Moreau said: "We continue to be operator-focused as far as Fonestarz is concerned and that side of the business will continue to grow as operators outsource more and more of their content offerings. But D2C is the channel of the future so we're working hard with the likes of Google to ensure Kazzip is on their radar."
Ostensibly, that means buying Adwords, but Moreau says he hopes Kazzip's strong portfolio of licensed content will ensure traffic is sent its way when mobile users 'Google' for content like Man Utd.
Kazzip will also initially operate using a pay-per-download rather than subscription model until its user base is established.
Needless to say, Fonestarz is not about to loosen its grip on the B2B market. The company already manages entertainment services for 42 channels in 25 countries and recently appointed the former Vodafone Australia head of content Keith O’Brien as its general manger of on-portal.
The company's most recent operator additions were O2 Ireland and Vodafone Turkey.
