Mikoishi and Nexon team up to launch RTS game in South Korea.
SteamIron: The Fallen will be released by Nexon Mobile in November as part of a new multi-title joint development partnership between the Korean publisher and Singapore-based developer Mikoishi.
The game, built using Mikoishi's Theatre online games platform, is the first installment in the developer's ambitious multiplayer, multiplatform SteamIron sci-fi fantasy franchise.
Following the 3G mobile release, future games are planned for mobile (Awakening in 1Q08, Tournament Edition in 3Q08 and Ferrom Rising in 4Q08) and Nintendo DS (The Exodus 4Q08), culminating in a PC MMOG scheduled for release in 2Q09.
Cross-platform gameplay and community features are in development and will be announced in 2008.
Mikoishi CEO Alex Goatcher said: "SteamIron: The Fallen was designed specifically to cater to the massive RTS fan base in Korea. In the past, RTS games have been tried on mobile but have failed due to the lack of cooperative and competitive gameplay. Now RTS games can now be played in a swift, fair and controlled mobile environment."
