Apple's iPhone grabbed a 1.8 per cent share of US handset sales in July.
Market analyst iSuppli says its Consumer Panel Survey inoidcated that iPhone outsold all other smartphones (including the Blackberry series and the entire Palm portfolio) and equalled sales of the most popular feature phone, though it did not reveal specific models or numbers.
Approximately 57 per cent of iPhones bought in July were by consumers aged 35 years or younger, with 52 per cent of all buyers male.
Interestingly, nearly one quarter of consumers who bought iPhones switched to AT&T, which is Apple's exclusive US partner for the device.
iSuppli says Apple's device is on course to ship 4.5 million units in 2007, growing to 30 million units in 2011.
