GC LEIPZIG: Sony’s PSP announcements

Sony reveals the PSP Slim and Lite launch date and three connected apps.
At its press conference in Leipzig, Sony has announced that the new PSP Slim and Lite will be available across SCEE territories from September 5th this year.
Three Go! branded PSP applications were also showcased at the conference.
Go!Messenger, a new wireless voice chat service, video chat and instant messaging service will roll out across Europe in the New Year. It builds on a PSP wi-fi deal Sony announced with BT earlier this year.
A Go! Branded video download service was also revealed, which will launch early next year. The service will feature programming from Sky and a host of third party content owners.
Elsewhere, the PSP’s satellite navigation package Go!Explore due for release in the new year was on show. The in car and pedestrian GPS navigation application was developed in collaboration with TeleAtlas and NavNGo, and incorporates a GPS receiver and UMD software.
