9 Squared will take Univision Móvil’s Spanish language content to operators in the US.
The Zed-owned company has teamed up with the mobile division of Univision Communications, which owns Hispanic-focused TV, music and internet properties, in order to increase its footprint in a fast growing ‘ethnic’ market.
9 Squared will now distribute content via Univision-branded BREW applications, on-portal carrier storefronts, and also off-portal via short codes and PSMS billing. Content includes hit latin tones and songs from Univision artists such as Jennifer Peña, Kinto Sol and Graciela Beltran and clips/images from hit TV shows like Premios Juventud.
There are also plans for original content.
“The partnership with 9 Squared has enhanced the delivery of Univision Móvil’s content to one of the fastest growing U.S. wireless subscriber demographics – Hispanics,” said Christopher Brunner, VP of mobile content and services at Univision Móvil.
Verizon Wireless subscribers can already download Univision Tonos, a BREW discovery, search, preview, and purchase ringtone application from VZW Get-It-Now.
