BBC is to supply Alan Partridge, Doctor Who and Little Britain content to O2
The deal is believed to be the first by Peter Mercier, BBC Worldwide’s recently appointed head of mobile. BBC already has similar deals in place with zof 3 and Orange in the UK and other partners around the world.
BBC Worldwide is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. In 2005/06 the unit generated profits of £89 million on revenues of £784 million. Mercier joined from MobiTV earlier this summer.
