weComm raises £3m

weComm has closed a £3 million round of funding from existing investors

The company will use the funds to roll out its recently announced wave3 on-device portal technology and geographical expansion. The funding round was led by Elderstreet.

weComm currently counts BSkyB, Cantor Fitzgerald and Motorola among its customers. The company's technology, which is being used by Sky to power its on-device portal, work by streaming content and applications rather than downloading them.

weComm recently appointed ex-T-Mobile group biz dev VP Tony Kypreos as a non-exec director.

Oliver Sturrock, founder of weComm, said: "wave3 changes the economics of mobile application delivery. This funding will be used to accelerate customer acquisition in all the major markets as well as to further enhance our core engineering capability."
