Hands-On is looking to shake up European multiplayer with WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2.
Hands-On Mobile has begun rolling out its much-anticipated WPT Texas Hold 'Em 2 on operator decks.
WPT 2's feature set is ambitious to say the least - it includes web-to-wireless multiplayer, the ability to create private tables and games, customisable avatars, chat, IM lists and regular tournaments.
The original game is somewhat of a benchmark for mobile multiplayer - in the US alone it has generated 3.6 million downloads and dealt ten million multiplayer hands since its March 2005 launch. Stateside it attracts 10,000 unique users a day playing 200,000 hands a week with the average user playing for four hours a month.
Globally, the first WPT game has been downloaded six million times. In Europe, however, it was only available in single player form - Hands-On believes the operator and technological environment is now right for WPT 2 to be a multiplayer success this side of the pond too.
James Kaye, Hands-On's head of marketing for EMEA, Lat Am & SE Asia, told ME: "Not only is WPT 2 a significant leap forward for realtime multiplayer mobile gaming in Europe, but it also represents real world convergence between the web and mobile platforms - something that we'll be seeing a lot more of in the future."
