Cotopia is set to release a range of free ad-funded multiplayer mobile games.
The Czech company’s platform allows users to play its multiplayer board games against each other in real-time. It says more than 50,000 users played about 600,000 games in the old version.
All games – Chess, Reversi, TicTacToe and Connect 4 – are free to play thanks to a Cotopia business model that includes mobile advertising. All games support chat, inbox messages, advanced scoring system and avatar support and can be played against live opponents or with an AI robot player.
They are hosted on the company’s mobile site at http://cotopia.mobi. It wants to release open API for the platform, so anybody would be able to create new games using it. More games, such as Poker and Go, will be released in a few months.
