Nokia embeds ROK TV

Nokia is embedding a trial version of ROK TV in its E65 and E61i phones.
The mobile TV service works over both 2.5G and 3G networks and is available free to owners of the two devices for a two week period after activation.
The deal is a major coup for ROK, which is currently offering its TV platform on a D2C basis and through operator partners Celcom (Malaysia), AIS (Thailand) and Telenor (Pakistan).
The embedded Nokia service excludes data charges at 10MB an hour over GPRS, which is why it is currently being targeted at the Eseries' predominantly business user base, many of who will be on a data tariff.
ROK TV is available to E65 and E61i users in the UK now and will deploy into mainland Europe from August onwards. It can be found behind the Downloads! icon on the device.
Once the free trial is over two channel packages will be offered - a five channel 'Strictly Business' package, to be charged in the UK at £5.00 a month.
It includes Bloomberg, CNBC Europe, EuroNews in 9 languages and regional news channels.
There will also be a ten channel 'ROK All' TV package, to be charged at £10.00 a month for all the business news channels as well as additional sports news, music videos and comedy channels.
Dabid King, business development manager for Enterprise Solutions at Nokia said: "Nokia Eseries customers tend to be professional people who seek instant information and entertainment, on-demand, so it is a logical and practicle step to offer our customers a business-orientated mobile TV service."
