Spin3 has launched OnCash, a card that downloads games and cash credits to handsets.
The mobile gambling specialist describes OnCash as a ‘small breakthrough in the convergence between the real world and the mobile space’. It believes this could have real significance in the mobile gambling space, where many consumers are keen to play but either don’t wish to use a credit/debit card or don’t own one at all.
On-Cash is the Spin3’s re-invention of the Ki-Bi system, which it purchased last year. While Ki-Bi served merely to transfer content to a phone, OnCash is a more ambitious concept. Spin3 plans to deliver master OnCash cards to retailers, which can then be used to register players, deliver new gambling games to the customer’s handset, top it up with cash and pay out.
The cards will connect to the Spin3 back end.
Matti Zinder, CEO of Spin3, said: “The barriers to mobile gambling are many even though the demand is great. One of the biggest barriers is payment. I believe OnCash overcomes this by allowing customers to use cash. It takes only two minutes for the player to be registered, get games and put cash into their account.”
Spin3 is trialling OnCash now across 50 stores in one South East Asian country. It claims to have 10 more deals ready to go live within weeks and expects 15 live deployments by end of 2007.
