Razz has launched its user-gen voicetone app on a direct-to-consumer basis in the US, with a UK debut to follow shortly.
The web-based Razz Tones app allows users to create their own tone by combining their own voice with audio clips from a library of TV characters and music.
Each tone costs $2.99 and can be shared with other people via SMS, email or audio widget, which can be published to any website or social network such as MySpace, Facebook or Tagged.
Friends can purchase a user’s ringtone for 99 cents using the Razz Buddy Code system.
User can also store their tones on the Razz website for no extra charge.
David Rich, chief marketing officer at Razz, said: "We wanted to deliver a fresh, new approach to ringtone personalisation and leverage the viral distribution of social networks. Pre-recording your own voice and mixing it with other music and sound clips is the ultimate personal experience for which consumers and carriers have been looking."
