Moto starts shipping Motocast

Motorola's 'Motocast' ticker app has started to ship in its Razr V3, Krzr K1, Rizr Z3 and W510 handsets

The app, which was originally set to appear in April after a UK soft launch last November, is designed to offer zero-click access to news and premium content.

At launch there are two content channels available: a Reuters news service and a Motorola service offering wallpaper, ringtones, games and other content. Motorola plans to add further channels to the service throughout the year.

Moto says the 'always on' service uses 1.35MB of data a month, though additional data will be utilised if the user clicks through to a WAP page or purchases downloadable content.

Stephen Nolan, regional lead for Northern Europe at Motorola, said: "With Motocast, customers will be able to realise the full potential of their devices with no complexity; there is nothing to install, no feature hidden away, no WAP browser to find or numerous pages to click through - the service operates out of the box."
