Virgin UK looks for search partner, finds Infospace
Tim Green Jun 4 2007, 6:45pm
InfoSpace has bagged a deal to power search for Virgin Mobile in the UK.
The two companies have a long affiliation as Infospace powers the content delivery services behind Virgin’s own storefront Bites. This new whitelabel solution will let Virgin users surf the Web, WAP sites and Bites and thus provide a quick route to ringtones, games and other premium content.
Infospace says Virgin will now benefit from the functions supplied by its new partners FAST, which provides crawling and indexing technologies, and InfoGin, which adapts content and information from Web to mobile.
George Fraser, MD – Europe of InfoSpace Mobile, said, " Mobile search is the next stage of the communication revolution and brings all of the world's knowledge to mobile users' fingertips. We have been working with Virgin Mobile on mobile content since 2001, so we know what their subscribers expect and demand."
