3 UK has launched a £5 a month flat rate data tariff to encourage usage of the mobile internet outside of its X-Series customer base.
The 'unlimited' tariff (up to 1GB of data a month) is available to those among 3 UK's 3.9 million customers with 'recently' launched handsets.
It is designed to complement 3's existing X-Series multimedia package, which already bundles stuff like Skype, Yahoo, MSN, Slingbox and Orb with unlimited data for £5 or £10 a month.
3 is initially touting the flat rate tariff as a cheap way for high volume IM or email users to make merry while on the move.
John Penberthy-Smith, 3’s marketing director, said: "Building on the innovation and success of X-Series, our latest mobile internet package gives our customers freedom to use the internet on the move and to choose a handset which really works for them."
3 is also offering customers a Video Talk 500 deal, which includes 500 anytime video call minutes to any network for £15 a month.
